IMD18 data
- The 2018 New Zealand Index of Multiple Deprivation spreadsheet: IMD18 (1.3 MB, MS Excel)
Downloadable spreadsheet of IMD18 with the 2018 usual resident population (URP) of data zones, four geographic boundary types, overall deprivation and seven separate domains. There are also seven versions of the index with one domain removed to avoid circularity in analyses that focus on one of the domains.
- The 2018 New Zealand Index of Multiple Deprivation ESRI File Geodatabase: IMD18 (35 MB, ESRI File Geodatabase)
Freely downloadable ESRI File Geodatabase (GDB) of the IMD18 with the 2018 usual resident population (URP) of data zones, four geographic boundary types, overall deprivation and seven separate domains. There are also seven versions of the index with one domain removed to avoid circularity in analyses that focus on one of the domains. Once extracted from the zip file, the GDB can be opened in most mapping software including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS and R. The zip file includes two ArcGIS Pro (version 2.7.26828) layer files that allow users to reproduce the colour ramp used in the online interactive maps of the IMD.

- Spreadsheet linking 2018 SA1 to 2013 and 2018 data zones. Oceanic or coastal inlet meshblocks are excluded (535 KB, MS Excel)
This lookup table was created using address weighted SA1 centroids to spatially join 2018 data zones and then spatially join 2013 data zones. SA1 was introduced by Statistics NZ in 2018. Statistical Area 1 is an aggregation of meshblocks optimised to be of similar population sizes to enable the release of low-level data.
